At Sir Francis Drake school, we are committed to a broad, balanced and rich curriculum, which aims to provide a firm foundation for our pupils, focussing on the accumulation of valuable and transferable learning skills and knowledge. Each year group teaches the National Curriculum with discrete lessons for Maths and English and delivering all other subjects through exciting topic themes using our tailored version of the Dimension curriculum. A global dimension is incorporated into both the curriculum and the wider life of the school, preparing pupils to live in and contribute positively to a global society. We address issues such as sustainable development, interdependence and social justice at both the local and global level.
The curriculum is made up of carefully chosen themes to inspire and motivate pupils to have a thirst for learning.
If you have questions about the curriculum that your child is following please speak to your child's class teacher or Karen Cartwright, our Headteacher.
